The London Diamond Bourse (LDB) recently introduced a Women’s Network in an effort to promote collaboration and diversity.
The launch took place at a “Coffee and Diamonds” event last month, the organization said Monday. The bourse has also appointed its first female vice president, “a milestone that reflects the organization’s ongoing efforts to encourage greater diversity and leadership within the trade,” it said.
“Diverse perspectives enhance consumer understanding — the key to growth in the diamond industry,” noted Lisa Levinson, head of UK at the Natural Diamond Council (NDC). “The British fine-jewelry world is full of top-caliber talent and through the Women’s Network we will support each other to better deliver a diamond experience for our consumers.”
The network’s events will include informal talks and discussions, at which diamond-industry leaders will provide insights into how women can navigate the traditionally male-dominated trade.
“I have witnessed firsthand how women can thrive when given the right support and opportunities,” added LDB vice president Charlotte Rose. “This network will create a space for women to share their experiences, break down barriers and access the right support to grow in the industry.”
The next Women’s Network event is set to take place on February 12.
