The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) has elected Julie Yoakum, president of Kay and Peoples Jewellers, as chairperson of its board of directors.
The newly appointed leadership reflects JVC’s focus on governance and proactive industry advocacy, the committee said Wednesday. With expertise spanning retail, manufacturing, education, communications, merchandising, insurance and supply-chain operations, the board is well equipped to steer the organization at a time when clear legal direction and independent oversight are increasingly vital, it stated.
“The [JVC] plays a critical role in protecting trust across our industry,” said Yoakum. “I am honored to serve alongside such a thoughtful group of leaders as we continue to support businesses and uphold the standards that matter to consumers.”
The following are the officers:
- Rebecca Foerster of Hearts on Fire, as past chairperson,
- Michael Richards of Underwood Jewelers, as 1st vice president,
- John Kreul of Jewelers Mutual Insurance Group, as 2nd vice president,
- Mark Goldberg of Rolex Watch USA, as treasurer and finance committee chair,
- Lisa Lackland of Ben Bridge Jeweler, as corporate secretary and legal action committee chair
The JVC also appointed five new board members, who bring experience that spans the full spectrum of the modern jewelry industry:
- Charlie Green, Lux Bond & Green
- Arien Gessner, Richline Group, Rio Grande
- Johanna Levy, Gemological Institute of America (GIA)
- Tina Moretti, Goldstar Jewellery
- Tara Zerr, Helzberg
The board also includes the continuing members:
