IGI Names Bourse President as New Chairman

Anoop Mehta has joined the board of the International Gemological Institute (IGI) as its new chairman and independent director. 

Mehta has over 50 years of experience in the Indian and global gem and jewelry industry, IGI said Tuesday. He currently serves as chairman and managing director of Mohit Diamonds and as president of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). He is an active member of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). 

Mehta was involved in establishing the Bharat bourse in 2010 and has been honored with several lifetime achievement awards, including from the GJEPC. His appointment took effect June 6. 

“A true veteran of the diamond industry, Mehta brings a wealth of knowledge, deep-rooted insight, and strategic vision,” said IGI global CEO Tehmasp Printer. “His extensive experience within the global diamond ecosystem will be invaluable in shaping IGI’s direction and advancing our mission to lead with expertise and integrity in gemological science.”
