A four-piece emerald and diamond set headlined a recent jewelry sale at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, exceeding its estimate to fetch HKD 2.4 million ($310,193).
The group comprises a necklace featuring 76 step-cut, cushion- and pear-shaped emeralds with marquise-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds, a pair of earrings with 16 pear-shaped Zambian emeralds, a bracelet and a ring. In total, the emeralds weigh over 393 carats. The set, which carried a high estimate of HKD 1.8 million ($231,389), led the September 13 to 25 Fine Jewely sale, according to the auction house’s website.
The sale garnered HKD 48.8 million ($6.3 million), including pieces from design houses such as Chanel, Graff, Schreiner and Cartier, as well as colored gems.
