Signet Jewelers has appointed Jeffrey Gennette to its board of directors.

Gennette brings over four decades of leadership experience to the role, which began May 6, Signet said last week. He was CEO of Macy’s from 2017 to 2024 and chairman for six years until 2024. Gennette began his career in 1983 as an executive trainee at Macy’s West in San Francisco.

In his new position on the board’s human capital management and compensation committee and finance committee, Gennette will help guide the jeweler’s long-term growth initiatives and capital-allocation strategy, Signet added. His broad experience in merchandising, marketing, digital transformation, and store operations will further strengthen the company’s board, as it continues to develop its “Grow Brand Love” strategy, it continued.

“[Gennette’s] experience leading one of the largest omni-channel retailers in the US brings powerful insight to Signet,” said Signet CEO J.K. Symancyk. “As we continue to strengthen our brands, enhance our digital and store experiences, and grow share in a dynamic retail environment, [Gennette’s] guidance, passion for jewelry, and expertise will be a tremendous asset to our team and our board.”

Meanwhile, Nancy Reardon, who has been a director since 2018, will step down at the June 26 annual general meeting (AGM).
