Ethical Metalsmiths, a community of jewelry industry members focused on responsible business practices, has appointed Christina Malle as its president.
She succeeds Monica Stephenson of Anza Gems, who has served as Ethical Metalsmiths’ board president for the past three years. Stephenson will remain on the board of directors, the organization said Wednesday.
Malle, a trained goldsmith and graduate gemologist, is the founder of New York’s Christina Malle Jewelry, where she crafts jewels using Fairmined and recycled gold. She became an official Fairmined licensee in 2019. Previously a human-rights attorney, Malle has been an Ethical Metalsmiths member for more than 10 years, serving first as an adviser before joining its board of directors in 2018.
