Former Lucara Diamond Corp. CEO Eira Thomas will succeed her father as chair of the board of directors at lithium, gold and diamond miner North Arrow Minerals.

Thomas, who began her new role on February 28, has more than 30 years of experience in the mining industry and has held executive and board positions at several companies, including Aber Diamond Corp., Kaminak Gold Corp, and Lucara. She also spent 17 years as a director of Suncor Energy, North Arrow said Wednesday.

Together with her father, D. Grenville (Gren) Thomas, Eira Thomas helped discover the Diavik diamond mine in Canada. She is also one of the founding members of Lucara. Gren Thomas, who has spent 17 years as the chair of North Arrow, will remain a director.

“Eira has a long and successful track record in the resource sector, in particular with identifying and building out opportunities in the junior mining space,” said North Arrow CEO Ken Armstrong “I’d like to extend my thanks and appreciation to Gren for his past guidance as chair and look forward to his continued involvement as a director of the company.”
