Edge Retail Academy Shakes Up Executive Team

The Edge Retail Academy has announced a shift in its leadership and management teams, with cofounder David Brown becoming chairman.

Brown, previously president, will continue to offer strategic guidance and oversight in the interests of the company’s owners and stakeholders, the academy said Monday. He will stay involved in key areas of Edge Retail Academy while stepping back from daily operations. The transition is part of a multiyear plan to advance continuity, discipline, and long-term sustainability for the company and the broader jewelry industry.

Meanwhile, Edge has named former vice president Becka Johnson Kibby as its CEO. She will be responsible for daily operations, financial management, and implementing strategic initiatives.

“[Johnson Kibby] has earned this role through her commitment to our mission and her willingness to take on increasing responsibility,” said Brown.

Sherry Smith, who was director of business development, will take on the position of vice president of coaching strategies and development. She will oversee the strategic growth, organization, and expansion of Edge Retail Academy’s Business Coaching Program, the company’s largest and most established service.

“[Smith] brings an exceptional combination of strategy, experience, and insight to our Business Coaching Program,” said Johnson Kibby. “Her ability to build, refine, and strengthen coaching initiatives is critical to where we’re headed as an organization.”

Edge Retail Academy offers retail jewelers business coaching and strategic guidance. It aims to help jewelers boost sales and optimize inventory management, profitability, recruiting, team performance, and retirement planning.
