The board of directors of Diamond Do Good (DDG) has unanimously selected Marcus ter Haar as its next president-elect.

Ter Haar has years of experience in the diamond sector within leadership roles in both the private and public divisions, the nonprofit said Sunday. Most recently, he served as cochair of the organization’s Beneficiary Committee, where he played a key role in shaping DDG’s global grantmaking approach and strategic partnerships. He has been a strong advocate for initiatives that contribute to the diamond industry’s national development, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment, core priorities of DDG’s global mission, it added.

“[Ter Haar] brings a wealth of experience, perspective, and heart to Diamonds Do Good,” said current DDG president Kathy Corey. “His deep ties to Botswana and his commitment to sustainability and community development align perfectly with our mission of sharing how natural diamonds create positive impact.”

In his new position, Ter Haar will focus on DDG’s leadership strategies, aiming to maintain continuity and secure a strong future for the organization.

He will succeed Pete Engel, who is currently serving as president-elect, on January 1, 2026. Engel will take over Corey’s current position as DDG’s president, as she will have completed her term. Ter Haar will work closely with Engel until he becomes president in January 2028.
