David Craig Rotenberg, a respected member of the American Gem Society (AGS) and longtime industry leader, died on June 29 at age 79.

Rotenberg owned David Craig Jewelers in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and was a prominent figure in the jewelry and appraisal community for decades. A graduate gemologist with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and an AGS-certified gemologist since 1984, he built a reputation for expertise, integrity and mentorship.

Rotenberg began his jewelry career more than 50 years ago, gradually expanding from small beginnings into operating a well-known full-service store. He also received the International Society of Appraisers’ (ISA) Leadership Award and a Certified Gemologist Appraiser Emeritus honor from the AGS after decades of service.

The jeweler regularly shared his industry insights through articles and interviews. He contributed to several Rapaport features over the years, offering perspectives on retail trends, consumer behavior and ethical sourcing.

A funeral service will take place on July 3 at Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Funeral Directors Suburban North in Southampton, Pennsylvania. Donations in his memory can be made to the Vetri Foundation.
