Christie’s Online Auction Garners Close to $5M

A 10.03-carat diamond ring took center stage at a recent online jewelry sale at Christie’s, where it brought in $428,400. 

The square emerald-cut, 10.03-carat, E-color, VVS1-clarity diamond ring, which sold within its presale estimates, was the top lot at the June 18 Jewels Online sale, according to the auction house’s website. 

In total, the sale brought in $4.8 million. Many lots outstripped their estimates, with some selling for several times their high price. Christie’s also offered a range of colored gemstones and jewels from well-known design houses, including Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, and Cartier.

This ring features a cushion mixed-cut, 34.18-carat Ceylon sapphire between two shield step-cut, 0.51 carats, D-color, VVS1-clarity diamonds. It scored $252,000, more than eight times its $30,000 high estimate.

Square emerald-cut diamond earrings with a 6.02-carat, E-color, VS1-clarity and a 6.10-carat, F-color, VVS1-clarity stone sold for $176,400, missing their $200,000 low asking price.

This pair of oval mixed-cut Brazilian alexandrites totaling approximately 4.10 carats, suspended from round and oval-shaped diamonds, more than doubled its $50,000 upper estimate to sell for $126,000.

Another piece that beat its high estimate is this ring featuring a rectangular emerald-cut, 3.07-carat Colombian emerald, set between two triangular-shaped diamonds. It went for $126,000 against its $80,000 presale price.

Christie’s sold this ring for $100,800, in the middle of its price range. It bears an oval modified brilliant-cut, 12.38-carat Ceylon sapphire and round diamonds.

This emerald-cut, 5.01-carat, D-color, VS1-clarity diamond ring brought in $88,200, just beating its $80,000 low estimate.
