An unmounted 50.06-carat diamond is set to hit the auction block at a Christie’s online jewelry sale, where it is expected to fetch up to $4 million.
The cushion modified brilliant-cut, D-color, VS1-clarity diamond will lead the New York Jewels Online sale, which runs from November 28 to December 8, Christie’s said Monday. It is among a number of diamond pieces the auction house will showcase at the event.
The sale will also feature jewels from several private collections, including that of Susan Lasker Brody, the daughter of respected modern-art collectors Frances and Sidney Brody. Property from the collection of Laura and David Finn — the former being the cofounder of public-relations firm Ruder Finn — will also be up for bidding, as will that of Sports Illustrated journalist Virginia Kraft Payson. Those will be joined by a group of jewels belonging to May Bourne Strassburger, heiress to the Singer sewing-machine fortune.
