A Boucheron diamond tiara led the recent Bonhams auction in London, where it surpassed its top price and sold for GBP 508,400 ($681,636).
The piece, from 1924, centers a pear-shaped old brilliant-cut, 3.60-carat diamond drop between olive leaves bearing old brilliant-, old single- and rose-cut diamonds. It also contains collet-set old brilliant-cut diamonds within similarly set diamond borders. It carried a GBP 300,000 ($402,225) high estimate at the June 11 Exceptional Jewels auction, according to the Bonhams website.
The auction house found buyers for jewels featuring colored gemstones, as well as for pieces from well-known designers such as Bulgari, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels.

This brooch from around 1880 is designed as ivy leaves. It contains three pear-shaped Colombian emeralds, and is set throughout with old cushion, old brilliant and rose-cut diamond “buds” below rose-cut diamond surmounts.

A Sterlé Art Deco necklace from 1935 can also be converted into a pair of bracelets. It’s designed with brilliant, old brilliant and single-cut diamonds, accented by cabochon-cut Burmese rubies alternating with baguette and step-cut diamonds.

Bonhams sold this ring bearing a step-cut, 20.56-carat Colombian emerald between pear-cut diamond shoulders.

Estimate: GBP 120,000 to GBP 180,000 ($160,890 to $241,335)
This Aldao set comprises a bracelet and a pair of ear studs. The bracelet has step-cut diamonds graduating in size toward the center, alternating between links with duos of baguette-cut diamonds. Each of the ear studs contains a step-cut diamond, weighing 1.45 and 1.50 carats.
