Bonhams will offer a jewelry collection comprising 74 pieces that belonged to former US Senator Dianne Feinstein.
The sale, called The Legacy of a Stateswoman, will center around a ring containing a round, 4.14-carat, E-color, VS2-clarity diamond flanked by tapered baguette diamonds. The piece carries a high price tag of $65,000, Bonhams said last week.
The jewels in the collection were worn by Feinstein, a California senator from 1992 until her death in 2023, throughout her political career, Bonhams noted. The sale will also include furniture and design objects from her homes in San Fransisco, Washington, DC, and Aspen, Colorado. It will take place on October 8 in Los Angeles.
“Jewelry was incredibly special to Dianne Feinstein, and it’s rare to find images of her without classic strands of pearls, diamond studs, and her signature senator pin,” said Emily Waterfall, director of the jewelry department at Bonhams Los Angeles. “Her collection embodies refined sophistication, featuring pieces from renowned jewelry houses such as Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, and Buccellati, as well as some unsigned items. Her jewelry box is a testament to her style — elegant yet understated — ensuring that her jewels complemented rather than overshadowed her role as a leading figure in American politics.”
