Bonhams saw strong bidding at its most recent jewelry sale in Paris as nine of the top 10 items soared past their high estimates.
The top lot, a Van Cleef & Arpels brooch clip from circa 1937 designed as a bow in Art Deco style, sold for EUR 178,200 ($207,777), over seven times its high estimate. Featuring baguette and brilliant-cut diamonds, it led the October 16 Paris Jewels sale, Bonhams said last week.
In total, the sale made EUR 1.8 million ($2.1 million), comprising 108 items, with 88% of lots selling. It included pieces from design houses such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Bulgari, and Harry Winston.
