Informa Markets will collaborate with MCH Group to create the Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair.

The owner of Jewelry & Gem World Hong Kong and the former host of Baselworld will inaugurate the fair in Basel, Switzerland, in April 2027, they said last week. The show will take place annually, bringing together the jewelry and watch industries from across the world, with a focus on the sector’s current needs and market realities, the organizations added.

Designed as a city rather than as a traditional exhibition, Basilia will reflect the diversity of the global jewelry, gemstone and watch industries through themes. The event will comprise more than 400 exhibitors, including manufacturers, designers, brands, retailers, wholesalers, distributors and sourcing specialists, offering opportunities to build connections, explore new business prospects and develop strategic partnerships.

“We go where the market needs us most and where we can create genuine value. Sourcing has never been more complex,” said Celine Lau, director of jewelry fairs at Informa Markets. “Buyers are looking for trusted partners who truly understand the challenges they face. Basilia bridges that gap by directly connecting buyers with specialized suppliers who bring authentic expertise and fresh perspectives.”

MCH group was the organizer of veteran watch show Baselworld, which held its last edition in 2019. Subsequently, as the show saw cancellations due to Covid-19 and several major watch brands withdrawing for unrelated reasons, it pivoted to a digital platform. Informa Markets brought back its Jewelry & Gem World Hong Kong trade show in 2023, after the lifting of pandemic restrictions.
