Alrosa deputy CEO Vladimir Marchenko is leaving his position with the Russian miner to move to another business in the industry.

Marchenko joined Alrosa in 2017 as vice president of production for Africa and South America, the miner said last week. He was promoted to deputy CEO a year later.

As deputy CEO, Marchenko has led important projects in Africa, including the search for new diamond deposits in Zimbabwe, the company explained. He is currently the head of the Russia-Zimbabwe Business Council (RZBC).

During his time with Alrosa, Marchenko has made a “significant contribution to the development of the company and the diamond industry as a whole,” said CEO Pavel Marinychev. “Thanks to [his] expertise, Alrosa has expanded its portfolio of projects on the African continent.”
