Scammers have been advertising bogus opportunities to work with Alrosa in an attempt to steal money and data, the Russian diamond miner has said.
“Individuals and legal entities” have received messages from fraudsters posing as recruitment agencies offering “vacancies” or “special opportunities” related to the company’s activities, Alrosa warned in an alert last week. They also contained links to phishing sites for purported “tender schemes” that required registration, personal information, and cash deposits, the company added.
The notices have come from international numbers via WhatsApp, Telegram and social media, Alrosa said.
“Through deception and manipulation, under the guise of ‘special promotions’ or corporate company events, [the] scammers persuade people to transfer funds to fake accounts,” the alert noted.
Alrosa employees’ business correspondence takes place only via corporate email addresses with the @alrosa.ru domain, the company clarified.
