$6M Jadeite Necklace to Lead Sotheby’s Hong Kong

A jadeite necklace will be the centerpiece of an upcoming jewelry sale at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, where it is set to fetch up to HKD 50 million ($6.4 million). 

The piece, which is composed of 108 jadeite beads and a clasp set with a cabochon ruby and brilliant-cut diamonds, will headline the October 2 Magnificent Jewels I auction, Sotheby’s said Friday. The sale will also include colored diamonds and gemstones, as well as jewels by well-known design houses including Harry Winston, JAR, Bulgari, and Van Cleef & Arpels. 

An online sale, called Magnificent Jewels II, which coincides with the first auction, will take place online between September 30 and October 8. 

Here are some more top pieces Sotheby’s will offer at the Magnificent Jewels I auction: 

Fancy-vivid-yellow, round brilliant-cut ring, Sotheby's image
A ring set with a round brilliant-cut, 67.20-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, VVS2-clarity diamond center stone, as well as pear-shaped, oval and brilliant-cut diamond accents, is estimated to achieve up to HKD 39 million ($5 million). 
Sotheby’s will sell this rivière necklace, with 71 graduating emerald-cut diamonds weighing a total of 114.92 carats, for up to HKD 20 million ($2.6 million). The stones are all D color, and they range from internally flawless to flawless.

This ring features a step-cut, 22.83-carat Colombian emerald flanked by two trapeze-shaped diamonds. It carries a price tag of HKD 13.5 million to HKD 16.5 million ($1.7 million to $2.1 million).

A ring with a cushion-shaped, 12.52-carat Kashmir sapphire, set between two half-moon-shaped diamonds, is expected to bring in up to HKD 9.5 million ($1.2 million).

A pair of oval-shaped jadeite cabochon earrings will go on the auction block with an upper estimate of HKD 9 million ($1.2 million). 
Cushion-shaped, fancy-vivid-yellow diamond, Sotheby's image
Sotheby’s will offer this ring, with a cushion-shaped, 16.36-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, VS1-clarity diamond, for up to HKD 6 million ($770,192).
Unmounted brilliant-cut, D-flawless diamonds, Sotheby's image
This pair of unmounted brilliant-cut, D-flawless diamonds weighing 5.29 and 5.21 carats will be up for auction with a high price of HKD 5.5 million ($706,018). 
Two pear-shaped diamond earrings, Sotheby's image
A pair of earrings featuring two pear-shaped, D-color, internally flawless diamonds weighing 5.93 and 5.22 carats will also go up for auction. The pair, created by Valentin Magro, is set to fetch up to HKD 4.5 million ($577,650).
