6ct. Ruby and Diamond Ring to Lead Phillips NY

A ruby ring and a pink diamond necklace are set to headline the upcoming New York sale at Phillips, where they will be among the highest-value lots the auction house has ever offered.

The December 13 sale will comprise nearly 140 items, including colored and white diamonds, as well as signed jewelry by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Tiffany & Co., Phillips said last week.

The top five lots at the New York Jewels sale are:

Called The Red Dragon, this ring bears an oval, 6.43-carat, purplish-red Burmese ruby within a frame of pear-shaped diamonds. It carries an estimate of $1 million to $1.5 million.
This oval, 4.05-carat, fancy-intense pink, VS2-clarity diamond pendant necklace by Boodles features collet-set brilliant-cut white diamonds within its chain. It’s expected to bring in between $800,000 and $1.2 million.
The auction will also include a round-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 30.65-carat, fancy-intense-yellow, SI1-clarity diamond ring with a presale price tag of $300,000 to $500,000.
A round-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 8-carat, D-color, internally flawless diamond ring is expected to fetch $250,000 to $350,000 at the New York sale.
This bracelet, made in the 1950s, contains a graduated line of oval and cushion-shaped Burmese rubies, set between two rows of step- and fancy-cut diamonds. It’s estimated at $150,000 to $250,000.
