A Pragnell ring centering a 22.09-carat diamond grabbed the spotlight at a recent Heritage auction.
The jewel, bearing a cushion-shaped, fancy-yellow diamond with 1.33 carats of French- and carré-cut diamonds on the band, exceeded its $250,000 high estimate to sell for $475,000 at the September 28 Fall Fine Jewelry Signature Auction, according to Heritage’s website.
The Dallas, Texas-based auction house realized $7.6 million from 425 lots, with several of the top pieces beating their high estimates. Famous designer jewels from Bulgari, Hermès, and Tiffany & Co. also found buyers.

Estimate: $150,000 to $200,000
A ring bearing an emerald-cut, 8.17-carat, F-color, VS1-clarity diamond.
Estimate: $80,000 to $120,000
A gold necklace sporting a round brilliant-cut, 22.06-carat, K, I1 diamond.
Estimate: $100,000 to $150,000
An Oscar Heyman ring starring a rectangular-shaped, 14.11-carat, fancy-yellow, VVS2 diamond, between triangular-shaped diamonds weighing 2.09 and 2.24 carats.
Estimate: $100,000 to $120,000
A Carvin French ring centering an oval-shaped, 7.02-carat, D, SI1 diamond with full-cut stones along the band.
