202ct. Yellow Diamond to Take Spotlight at Christie’s

Christie’s is set to offer a 202.18-carat yellow diamond at its upcoming Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva, only the third of its color over 200 carats to appear at auction.

The unmounted pear modified brilliant-cut, fancy-intense-yellow, SI1-clarity stone originated from South Africa, Christie’s said last week. Known as The Yellow Rose, the diamond, which exhibits a medium-blue fluorescence, will lead the May 15 sale, where it is expected to fetch more than CHF 4 million ($4.4 million).

The stone is one of several high-value jewels in the auction, which features pieces from well-known design houses including Buccellati, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, and JAR, Christie’s noted.

Here are the rest of the top 10 pieces:

30.02-carat, D-color, pear diamond image.
This pear brilliant-cut, 30.02-carat, D-color, internally flawless, type IIa diamond pendant is expected to fetch between CHF 1.6 million and CHF 2.6 million ($1.8 million to $2.9 million).

Two necklaces, one fitted with 171 natural pearls and the other with 182, will go under the hammer with a presale price range of CHF 1.6 million to CHF 2.3 million ($1.8 million to $2.5 million).
Emerald-cut, 23.15-carat, D-flawless diamond ring image.
A ring by Taffin, bearing an emerald-cut, 23.15-carat, D-flawless diamond center stone, carries an estimate of CHF 1.3 million to CHF 1.8 million ($1.4 million to $2 million).
Brilliant-cut, 20.02-carat, D-color pear diamond image.
Christie’s will sell this pear brilliant-cut, 20.02-carat, D-color, internally flawless diamond ring by Cartier for up to CHF 1.6 million ($1.8 million).
Brilliant-cut, K-color, VS2-clarity diamonds earrings pair image.
A pair of earrings set with pear brilliant-cut, K-color, VS2-clarity diamonds weighing 30.03 and 30.02 carats carries an estimate of CHF 1 million to CHF 1.5 million ($1.1 million to $1.7 million).
