A ring featuring a 15.12-carat, very-light-pink diamond fetched nearly three times its high estimate at Phillips on Monday, selling for $915,900.
Sitting between two heart-shaped diamonds, the marquise-shaped pink center stone is VVS2 clarity with the potential to be internally flawless. The ring, which had an upper estimate of $350,000, led the December 8 New York Jewels Auction, Phillips said Tuesday.
The sale raked in $5.3 million, with 94% of the 109 lots finding buyers. Pieces included signed jewels from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Boucheron, as well as other colored-gemstone and diamond items.
