When did you know that you wanted to follow in the footsteps of your ancestors and work in jewelry?
Retailing and designing are truly in my blood. Growing up, at the family dinner table, the talks were invariably about gems and the jewelry business. I knew, this was my true calling and wanted to take the legacy of my ancestors ahead through my journey.
How do you define your style?
The selection of rare and unusual jewels speaks to the most stylish women. These jewels are uniquely one of a kind, embellished with rare and wondrous gems creatively handcrafted with my signature stamp.
What do you consider your most iconic creations?
The brand is known for blending and harmonizing colorful gems into extravagant pieces of jewels, which has put Australian jewelry on the map. These creations feature rare and important gems, which I have patiently collected over decades, becoming my most important creations.
What are the materials and gemstones that attract you most to work with?
My signature style favors designing with Australian pearls and Boulder opals, along with other vivid-colored gems sourced from the most important mines in the world.
Who is the Margot McKinney woman?
She is true to herself. She is bold, strong and confident of her individuality. She is a woman of substance, a lady with grace and sophistication.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am working on a collection of big, beautiful Boulder opal rings and earrings that women will be able to wear both casually and more formally. I love the idea of wearing jewelry casually.
What’s your favorite personal item of jewelry?
I certainly don’t ever feel ready to venture outside without a strand of Australian South Sea pearls, a big pair of earrings and lipstick!
