A Van Cleef & Arpels sapphire and diamond necklace raked in the highest price at Poly Auction’s recent sale in Hong Kong.
The piece sports oval-cut sapphires and circular-cut diamonds. It sold for HKD 1.8 million ($235,488), narrowly beating its high estimate at the October 6 High Jewelry & Important Watches sale, according to the auction house’s website.
Poly Auction found buyers for a selection of colored-gemstone jewelry, including pieces featuring sapphires, rubies and Paraíba tourmaline. Timepieces also went under the hammer at the sale.

Estimate: HKD 800,000 to HKD 1.2 million ($101,943 to $152,914)

Estimate: HKD 300,000 to HKD 500,000 ($38,228 to $63,713)
A pair of Gübelin earrings, centering cushion-cut, 3.05- and 3.23-carat Burmese sapphires in marquise and circular-cut diamond surrounds.
