Bruce Bridges, president of American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) and of Bridges Tsavorite, will join the board of directors of the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO).
CIBJO elected Bridges to the board at its Centennial Congress in Vicenza, Italy, in recognition of his long-standing involvement in the gem and jewelry industry, AGTA said Tuesday.
“We are in a global industry and [Bridges’s] service on the CIBJO Board will expand AGTA’s international presence and promote AGTA’s high ethical standards,” said AGTA CEO John Ford.
The appointment will give AGTA an additional global platform, while supporting industry standards related to transparency, integrity, responsible sourcing and professionalism, the association said.
