A yellow diamond weighing 23.34 carats led the recent Phillips auction in Hong Kong, where it fetched HKD 4.3 million ($550,810).
The ring, which features a cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, fancy-intense-yellow, VVS1-clarity diamond, sold in line with its high estimate at the September 29 Hong Kong Jewels Auction, according to Phillips’s website.
The auction house garnered HKD 37.2 million ($4.7 million) from 91 lots. Jewels from well-known maisons such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, and Graff also went under the hammer.

Estimate: HKD 1.3 million to HKD 1.9 million ($167,000 to $244,000)
A pair of Harry Winston ear clips, each featuring six rubies of Burmese and Madagascan origin, suspended from brilliant- and baguette-cut diamonds. The total ruby weight is 18.26 carats.
Estimate: HKD 2.2 million to HKD 3 million ($282,000 to $385,000)
A pair of earrings featuring step-cut, fancy-brown-yellow diamonds – a 12.55-carat, VS2 and a 12.56-carat, VS1 stone – each hanging from a modified hexagonal step-cut diamond, spaced by a triangular-shaped stone.
Estimate: HKD 1.8 million to HKD 2.8 million ($231,000 to $359,000)
An oval, 6.06-carat Mozambican ruby is the star of this ring. It’s framed by pear- and marquise-shaped diamonds, with brilliant-cut diamonds on the shoulder.
Estimate: HKD 950,000 to HKD 1.6 million ($122,000 to $205,000)
This piece can be worn as a ring or a pendant. It features a heart-shaped, 15.05-carat, fancy-intense-yellow, VVS1 diamond, in a surround of brilliant-cut diamonds of yellow tint, with a pavé-set brilliant-cut diamond frame and shoulders.
