Jewelers of America (JA) and The Plumb Club have forged a strategic collaboration to increase advocacy and lobbying efforts on behalf of the jewelry sector.
“[JA] believes that now, more than ever, the jewelry industry needs to come together to support shared goals that can create a stronger, more unified voice,” said JA CEO David Bonaparte. The partnership aims to strengthen the Jewelers of America Political Action Committee (JAPAC), the organization said Wednesday.
Steven Lerche, The Plumb Club’s board president, and Roger Forman, the group’s former president, recently joined the JAPAC board. The organization is the only political action committee representing the whole fine-jewelry industry in Washington, D.C. Plumb Club executive director Lawrence Hess joined the JA leadership in Capitol Hill on September 15 at its annual Fly-In, at which it lobbies members of Congress and government officials on issues affecting the jewelry industry.
“Earlier in 2026, The Plumb Club augmented our strategic direction to broaden and heighten the club’s value to the jewelry industry overall,” said Lerche. “Therefore, we chose strategic partners who could work with us in these areas. We were thrilled to be able to work with [JA] and join their JAPAC initiatives to do exactly this.”
The organizations will work together on events and educational initiatives where their combined resources can provide greater value to their members, JA said.
The Plumb Club recently partnered with the Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) to support education, ethical business practices and compliance across the jewelry industry.
