RAPAPORT… The Diamond Trading Company (DTC) confirmed the sightholders
for the 2012 to 2015 supplier of choice (SOC) contract period that began on
April 1, 2012. The De Beers rough distribution unit issued the list on its
recently launched website. A provisional list was issued in December.
De Beers stressed that it has enabled a more flexible supply
policy by providing an opportunity to Diamdel clients to apply for a DTC sight.
Diamdel registered bidders that purchase at least $3 million in aggregate in a
specific category of rough diamonds and make at least three separate purchases
in a calendar year – prorated to $2 million with at least two separate
purchases for 2012 – will be invited to submit a contract proposal
questionnaire. De Beers expects to make the first invitations in late 2012.
