Tiffany & Co. has manufactured two polished diamonds from a 71.26-carat rough believed to be the largest fancy-vivid yellow ever recovered in Canada.
The jewelry retailer, which French luxury conglomerate LVMH acquired in 2021, announced on October 19 it had purchased the rough diamond. The company cut it into two diamonds, with one weighing more than 15 carats and the second over 20 carats, the company explained.
“As the world’s authority on rare gems, we are excited to announce our recent acquisition of the 71-carat yellow diamond, which represents Tiffany’s heritage of acquiring the most coveted gems on earth,” said Tiffany’s chief gemologist, Victoria Wirth Reynolds. “Impressive for its color and size, our artisans handcrafted this rough stone into two gems of unparalleled vivid-yellow color and brilliance.”
Tiffany bought the 71.26-carat rough from Arctic Canadian Diamond Company. The miner unearthed the stone last year from the Misery Pipe at its Ekati mine, known for producing high-quality yellow diamonds.
