Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America (MJSA) has granted $10,000 in scholarships to five aspiring jewelry designers to support their education and training.
The MJSA Education Foundation will endow the Future of Jewelry Making award toward the studies of each recipient, the group said Wednesday. This year’s winners are Lianna Carter, Lauren Edwards, Thomas Koslowski, Erin Perry and Heran Wang.
Carter is undertaking training at the New Approach School for Jewelers in Arrington, Tennessee, where she plans to complete the Bench Jeweler Comprehensive course this year. Edwards is entering her senior year at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in jewelry. Meanwhile, Koslowski is entering his junior year studying jewelry design as part of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Perry is studying at the Portland Jewelry Academy for a certificate in advanced fabrication and manufacturing techniques and is expected to complete the program at the end of the year. Lastly, Wang plans to enroll in the Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) Graduate Jeweler program at its Carlsbad, California, campus next year.
