The London Diamond Bourse (LDB) has elected Charlotte Rose as president, the first time a woman will hold this position.

The election took place at the LDB’s annual general meeting (AGM) last week. Rose, who was also the first female vice president of the exchange, is believe to be the first-ever female president of a diamond bourse worldwide, the LDB said.

David Troostwyk will become vice president after serving two-and-a-half years as president. In his new role, he will work alongside Rose to advance their shared vision for the LDB.

Wolf Rabstein will join as treasurer, while Paul Koppelman will continue as executive officer.

“I am honored that the council of management has entrusted me with the role of president,” Rose said. “I am conscious, too, of what this particular election represents. The London Diamond Bourse has been trading since 1940, and I am the first woman to lead it. I would rather that fact was unremarkable, and one day it will be. For now, I take it as a sign that this is an industry capable of change, and that our members are ready for it.”

The LDB also elected the following members to its council:

• Lewis Malka

• Howard Levine

• Kathy Chappell

• Anna Rogers

• Shadi Jin-Ziabee
