The Rapaport GemTalks series continues next week with an episode on identifying colored gemstones.
Nicole Ahline, supervisor for colored stones at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), will join Rapaport Senior Analyst Joshua Freedman to discuss how experts identify and describe pieces, detect treatments, and discover a stone’s geographical origin.
Ahline will explain the GIA’s processes, how it uses gemological tests and equipment, and how it maintains consistency across global laboratories.
The pair will address the common mistakes people in the industry make when it comes to gemstone identification, and will delve into challenging examples of identification that Ahline has encountered. She will also answer the audience’s questions.
“Gem Ident 101: Inside GIA’s Colored Stone Reports” will take place as a LinkedIn Live on Tuesday, June 30, at 10 a.m. EDT.
