The most valuable jadeite necklace sold in a decade at auction took the spotlight at the recent Christie’s sale in Hong Kong, where it raked in HKD 200.2 million ($25.6 million).
The jewel features 61 jadeite cabochon beads, with yellow diamonds on the clasp. It surpassed its HKD 200 million ($25.5 million) high presale price and led the May 26 Magnificent Jewels sale, according to Christie’s.
The auction garnered HKD 581.5 million ($74.2 million) in total, with several pieces beating their upper estimates. Jewels from famous designers such as Harry Winston, Tiffany & Co., and Cartier also found buyers.

A brooch designed as a flower centering an oval brilliant-cut, 1.78-carat, fancy-purplish-red, SI2, type Ia diamond in a round-diamond surround.

A Bulgari Trombino ring from 1970 bears a cut-cornered rectangular step-cut, 3.17-carat, fancy-vivid-pink, VS1, type IIa diamond with round and baguette-cut diamonds.

Estimate: HKD 9.6 million to HKD 15 million ($1.2 million to $1.9 million)
An oval brilliant-cut, 5.07-carat Burmese ruby is the star of this ring. It is framed by four pear brilliant-cut diamonds weighing 1.70, 1.84, 2 and 2.02 carats, and has round diamonds on the band.

Estimate: HKD 12.8 million to HKD 18 million ($1.6 million to $2.3 million)
Another Bulgari ring, this one centering a roundish brilliant-cut, 13.95-carat Kashmir sapphire with baguette-cut diamonds.

A necklace comprising 68 jadeite beads with a 4.53-carat Burmese ruby, and pear-shaped diamonds and diamond beads.

A Cartier Art Deco multi-gem tutti frutti bracelet features carved emeralds, rubies and onyx, emerald and onyx beads, and single and old-cut diamonds.
