Christie’s has appointed Tom Heap as its senior watch specialist.

Heap will be based in London, where he will expand the international presence of the auction house’s global market for exceptional timepieces, it said last week. He will work closely with the company’s international watches team to strengthen ties with collectors, obtain key consignments, and support the global-sales schedule.

His previous position was at Sotheby’s, where he spent nearly five years as a specialist and later as head of the watches department, overseeing sales and participating in major global auctions.

“We are thrilled to welcome Heap to the Christie’s international watches team,” said Remi Guillemin, head of watches in Europe and the Americas. “His expertise across both vintage and contemporary watches and his strong client relationships make him an excellent addition to our global team.”

As Christie’s marks its 260th anniversary, its London office continues to play a central role in its international watches network across Geneva, Hong Kong, and New York, the auction house said. Heap’s appointment highlights the category’s continued expansion, it added.
