Canada-based miner Star Diamond has named a new chairman and interim CEO as part of a shake-up of its top team.
The company has appointed Wayne Malouf, a director since August of this year, as chairman, it said last week.
“I welcome each of the new members of our team to Star Diamond Corporation,” said Malouf. “Together, the team’s combined experience of mining in Canada and across the world will enable the company to evaluate options for this exceptional, high-quality diamond project.”
Meanwhile, the miner has hired Lester Kemp as interim CEO. Ewan Mason, the current chief, is retiring at the end of the month.
“I am delighted to join the senior leadership team of Star Diamond Corporation as interim CEO,” said Kemp. “The team shares the same level of confidence in the future of the company, based on the disciplined execution of a clear plan to capitalize on the opportunity for value creation.”
The newly appointed chief operating officer is Mark Shimell, who was formerly the company’s vice president of exploration. Meanwhile, Krisztian Toth and Leslie Markow will both serve as directors.
The new leadership positions took effect on November 20.
