Fancy-Yellow Diamond Ring Stars at Sotheby’s Geneva

A ring from Valentin Magro featuring a 22.05-carat, fancy-yellow diamond took center stage at the recent Sotheby’s sale in Geneva.

The piece bears a cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, VS1-clarity diamond. It beat its CHF 200,000 ($251,887) upper price, bringing in CHF 215,900 ($271,912) to lead the November 14 Fine Jewelry auction, according to Sotheby’s.

In total the sale garnered CHF 8.9 million ($11.2 million), with several pieces surpassing their high estimates. The auction house offered lots from famous design houses such as Schreiner, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Graff.

The largest is a 1.02-carat, fancy-yellow, SI1 stone. It made CHF 165,100 ($207,935), above its CHF 140,000 ($176,323) high price.
