Three diamond rings took center stage at a recent Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong, selling for more than five times their high estimate.
The first ring features a brilliant-cut, 4.28-carat, D-color, VS1-clarity diamond, decorated with baguette and marquise-shaped stones, while the second, of toi et moi design, contains two brilliant-cut diamonds, a J-color, VS1-clarity weighing 3.37 carats and a 3.38-carat, I-color, VVS2-clarity. Meanwhile, the third is a brilliant-cut, 2.78-carat, M-color, SI1-clarity diamond, accented with baguette diamonds. Sold as a set, the rings were the top lot at the April 30 Fine Jewelry sale, exceeding their HKD 200,000 ($25,785) high estimate to bring in HKD 1.1 million ($147,370), according to the Sotheby’s website.
The sale also featured items from well-known design houses, including Graff, Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, and Bulgari. In total, the auction garnered HKD 32 million ($4.2 million).
