Jewelers of America (JA) will present Gucci with a GEM Award for High Jewelry Excellence, a new category it added to its roster this year.

The award will be one of a number given to the industry for the outstanding achievements of individuals or companies whose work raises the visibility and status of fine jewelry and watches, JA said Monday. The new prize has been earmarked for a company whose collection, or series of collections, increases consumer demand for high jewelry.

“The Gem Awards committee is thrilled to add the GEM Award for High Jewelry Excellence category to our prestigious list of awards,” said Amanda Gizzi, director of public relations and events at JA. “Gucci continually pushes consumers to dream through their bold jewelry-design aesthetic.”

Gucci was founded as a luxury fashion brand in Italy in 1921. The company presented its first high-jewelry collection in Paris in 2019 and has since unveiled a new collection each year.

In addition to the new award, JA will also give out accolades for Lifetime Achievement, Watch Excellence, Jewelry Design, Media Excellence and Retail Excellence.

The awards show will take place at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City on March 17, 2023.
