The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) has elected Rebecca Foerster as chairman of its board of directors, where she will serve a three-year term, the group announced Monday.

Foerster is currently the North American president of jewelry brand Hearts on Fire, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based retailer Chow Tai Fook. Previously, she spent three years as president of Alrosa’s North American division.

“The importance of this organization and the role it plays to support every part of our supply chain to make sure we are aware of significant issues and changes, to protect us and make sure we are compliant with ever-changing rules and legislation, has never been more relevant than today,” said Foerster. “Our industry has become more dynamic, global and complex, and the Jewelers Vigilance Committee serves as our ears and eyes to make sure members are up to date with impending changes and have the insight and tools they need to respond to them.”

The rest of the board members are:

  • Jenny Luker, president of Platinum Guild International, as past chairman.
  • Julie Yoakum, president and chief brand merchant for Helzberg Diamonds, as first vice president.
  • Michael Richards, vice president and chief operating officer of Underwood’s Jewelers, as second vice president.
  • Mark Goldberg, chief financial officer of Rolex Watch USA, as treasurer and finance committee chair.
  • Lisa Wong Lackland, general counsel of Ben Bridge Jeweler, as secretary and legal action committee chair.
