Sophie Stevens has joined Christie’s as the new head of jewelry for the Middle East, as the region’s luxury market continues to grow.

Stevens brings more than 15 years of experience to her role, the company said last week. Prior to joining Christie’s, she spent eight years as a jewelry specialist and vice president of the Middle East for Sotheby’s. In her new role, Stevens will attend to the growing interest in vintage and contemporary jewelry emerging in the region.

Stevens will travel throughout the region, advising clients on buying and consigning jewelry through Christie’s auction and private sale channels internationally, while working with existing international luxury teams and promoting the company’s presence in the markets.

“To be joining Christie’s in their 20th anniversary year in the United Arab Emirates in a newly created role is a testament to the growing interest and demand in the secondary market in this region for exquisite and extraordinary jewels and gems,” said Stevens.

Stevens, who will be based in Dubai, began the new position on April 30. She will work with Meagan Horsman, managing director at Christie’s Middle East.
