Bulgari has expanded its jewelry-manufacturing facility, a move that will allow it to double production capacity over the next four years.

The site, which it expanded to 33,000 square meters from its previous 14,000 square meters, will also enable the LVMH-owned jeweler to hire more than 500 new craftsman by 2029, it said last week. The site, located in Valenza, Italy, will house the new Scuola Bulgari, the maison’s first public education center, which will train the company’s new artisans. It will also provide entry-level courses designed to teach new students the foundations of goldsmithing, Bulgari noted.

“Manifattura Bulgari [Bulgari’s factory] fosters innovation while preserving and passing down a legacy built on passion and expertise,” the company stated. “Students will inherit traditional techniques and learn to apply them alongside the most innovative methodologies.”

The new factory gives Bulgari complete oversight over the entire jewelry-production process, from raw-material sourcing to the final jewelry creation, Bulgari explained.

The entire project uses 100% renewable energy sources, including geothermal and photovoltaic systems that cover up to 50% of the facility’s energy needs, Bulgari added.
