An Art Deco sapphire brooch took center stage at the recent Christie’s sale in Paris, where it fetched EUR 406,400 ($462,931).
The jewel centers an oval, 5.69-carat Kashmir sapphire between 6.50 carats of old-cut diamonds. It raked in more than five times its EUR 80,000 ($91,128) high estimate at the June 26 Joaillerie Paris auction, according to the Christie’s website.
In total, the sale garnered EUR 10.5 million ($12 million), selling over 240 lots, which included jewels from well-known maisons such as Harry Winston, Bulgari and Cartier. Several pieces surpassed their top prices.

A ring with a pear-cut, 9.09-carat Colombian emerald in a surround of white heart-shaped diamonds, and round and marquise-shaped colored diamonds, with round diamonds on the band.

A Harry Winston ring bearing a marquise-shaped, 9.95-carat, D-color, VVS2-clarity diamond, between two trapeze-shaped diamonds.

A brooch from around 1850 is designed as a spray of flowers. It features 40 carats of old, round and rose-cut diamonds. The piece, which made almost 12 times its high estimate, also includes pins so the jewel can be worn in the hair.“

This Bulgari Serpenti bracelet watch circa 1965 features blue and white enamel and pear-shaped sapphire eyes. The dial is signed Vacheron Constantin.
