An unmounted sapphire led the recent Sotheby’s auction in New York, where it brought in $409,600.
The piece, a cushion-cut, 5.98-carat Kashmir sapphire, sold within its estimates at the June 18 Fine Jewelry sale. In total, the sale garnered $10.4 million, according to the auction house’s website. Jewels from famous designers such as Harry Winston, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Graff also found buyers.

A pair of David Webb ear clips feature detachable pendants with 8.10 carats of emerald-cut fire opals, in a surround containing baguette tourmalines, oval-shaped ruby and turquoise cabochons. The surmounts include emerald-cut tourmalines and rectangular turquoises, accented throughout with 8.50 carats of round and baguette diamonds of F to G color and VS clarity.

An unmounted octagonal step-cut, 6.97-carat Ceylon sapphire.

Another lot is an unmounted oval-shaped, 11.84-carat Ceylon sapphire.
