Doug Hucker has retired as CEO of the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), following a nearly four-year tenure.

Hucker, who departed with immediate effect, saw the ICA through its post-Covid-19 recovery period and ongoing market challenges, the ICA said last week. He helped the association focus on financial discipline and improve its engagement with its members.

“[Hucker] has made a significant contribution to ICA during a pivotal time for our industry,” said the organization’s president, Damien Cody. “His experience, professionalism and commitment have helped strengthen the association and position it well for the future. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and service.”

Prior to joining ICA, Hucker was CEO of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) for 24 years. He also held positions within the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

“It has been a privilege to serve the ICA and its members,” Hucker said. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together during a period of significant change. These achievements reflect the collective effort of a committed board, dedicated members, and a passionate global community. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such talented and driven individuals. I am confident the association will continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.”

The ICA is currently searching for a replacement for Hucker, it added.
