An emerald and diamond ring stole the show at a recent jewelry sale at Phillips in Hong Kong.
The piece, which features a step-cut, 9.22-carat Colombian emerald within a surround of trapeze-cut diamonds, brought in HKD 5.4 million ($691,522) at the Hong Kong Jewels auction, which concluded on March 30, according to the Phillips website. The price was within its HKD 4.8 million to HKD 6.5 million ($640,000 to $833,000) estimate.
The auction house offered 85 pieces, selling 61 of those. The event also included pieces from well-known designers, including JAR, Cartier, Bulgari, and Van Cleef & Arpels. In total, the auction garnered HKD 41.9 million ($5.4 million).

A ring containing a round-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 4.05-carat, fancy-light-pink, internally flawless diamond center stone in a brilliant-cut diamond surround.
Estimate: HKD 2.4 million to $6 million ($300,000 to $770,000)
A necklace from the House of Glenn Spiro featuring a line of eight graduated natural pearls, highlighted by a pear-shaped diamond weighing 3.02 carats, and embellished with natural pearls, seed pearls, oval, rose- and brilliant-cut diamonds, and jadeite hoops.
Estimate: HKD 1.6 million to HKD 2.2 million ($200,000 to $282,000)
This necklace, from a private collection, bears a cut-cornered square modified brilliant-cut, 20.04-carat, fancy-intense-yellow, VS1-clarity diamond.
Estimate: HKD 1.1 million to HKD 2 million ($140,000 to $260,000)
A Cartier brooch designed as a reclining panther with articulated legs, pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds and highlighted by onyx spots and nose and emerald eyes.
