NDC Dubs April 8 Diamond Day

The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) has called on the global industry to share a unified message celebrating natural stones, designating April 8 as World Diamond Day.

The council has invited companies who deal in the trade, as well as shoppers who “wear, gift or admire” natural diamonds, to share “personal and meaningful” moments they represent, it said Tuesday. The date is significant, as April’s birthstone is a diamond, while the number eight is the symbol of infinity, the NDC explained.

The organization is calling for everyone to post a photo or short video across social media that captures what natural diamonds mean to them, whether it involves a milestone, a memory, a piece of well-loved jewelry, or the journey behind it.

“World Diamond Day is a collective movement and not a campaign,” the NDC said. “It is shaped by the people who participate, from personal milestones to communities diamonds uplift and transform. It is a chance to see natural diamonds through the lens of real people and real stories shared around the world in real time.”

Posters can post stories using the hashtags #WorldDiamondDay and #NaturalDiamonds. The NDC is also providing the option to customize social media assets through its website.
