Congolese diamond company SACIM achieved high prices at a recent tender it held in collaboration with Antwerp-based Samir Gems in the Belgian city.
The company sold more than 288,000 carats of rough Congolese diamonds at the February 16 to 20 event at the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) tender facility, the Belgian trade group said Monday. The lifting of sales restrictions on products from the Democratic Republic of Congo in June 2025 has allowed the company free access to the open market.
The sale garnered $3.2 million from rough diamonds. A total of 47 parties submitted 311 bids, with an average of nine placed per lot. The price per carat for SACIM’s goods was 42% higher than at its recent diamond tender in Dubai, despite challenges in the market.
“The strong presence of international buyers physically attending the diamond tenders creates robust competition, leading to optimal prices for the goods,” said AWDC CEO Karen Rentmeesters.
