Pink Diamond Becomes Heritage Auctions’ Highest-Priced Jewel Ever

A pink-diamond ring set a new record at Heritage Auctions last week when it sold for $2.2 million — the highest price the Texas-based auction house has ever achieved for a piece of jewelry.

At the ring’s center is the 6.17-carat Angelina diamond, an oval-shaped, fancy-pink, VVS2-clarity stone. Sporting a surround of full-cut diamonds and additional diamonds on the band, the piece led the December 3 Holiday Fine Jewelry Signature Auction. The final sale price surpassed the ring’s presale estimate of $1.8 million.

The sale garnered $8.4 million in total, and more than 330 lots found buyers. Jewelry from designers such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co. and David Webb also went under the hammer.
