Sotheby’s sold a pair of natural pearl and diamond earrings at its recent auction in London, where it more than tripled its GBP 80,000 ($105,969) high estimate, bringing in GBP 279,400 ($370,096).
The earrings, dated around 1925, led the November 14 to 28 Fine Jewelry sale, according to the auction house’s website. Each contains a drop-shaped pearl, featuring a fluted diamond-set surmount, hanging below three graduated baguette-cut diamonds and a carré-cut diamond.
In total, the sale garnered GBP 3.1 million ($4.1 million), with several pieces featuring diamonds and colored gemstones and originating from famous design houses such as Tiffany & Co., Cartier, and David Morris.
